Ringsnip

Turn any video into a ringtone, on your iPhone. En español

Pick a video from Photos or Files, slide to the part you want (up to 30 seconds), and Ringsnip saves it as a ringtone. You can also save the whole sound of a video as an audio file, or share it. Everything happens on your iPhone; nothing is uploaded.

Common questions

Why is a ringtone 30 seconds at most?

iOS only accepts ringtones of 30 seconds or less, so Ringsnip never makes a longer one. For anything longer, choose Whole sound to save the full audio.

I don't see "Use as Ringtone".

It arrived in iOS 26. Check Settings → General → About → iOS Version. On older iOS, tap Share or send in Ringsnip, choose GarageBand, then in GarageBand touch and hold the song → Share → Ringtone → Export.

Where are my files?

In the Files app: On My iPhone → Ringsnip → Ringtones (or Audio). They are also listed on Ringsnip's home screen, where you can play, share or delete them.

What is "Extract Audio" in the share sheet?

Ringsnip adds it to the share sheet of Photos and Files. Open a video, tap Share, then Extract Audio to make a ringtone without opening the app. If you don't see it, scroll the share sheet's row of actions to the end and tap Edit Actions to add it.

The video has no sound.

Some videos (screen recordings without the microphone, some downloads) have no sound track at all. Ringsnip tells you when that happens, because there is nothing to save.

What format are the files?

M4A (AAC audio), the format iPhone ringtones use, at up to 256 kbps or the video's own quality if lower. Ringtones get a short fade in and out so they don't click.
