Kept Awake
The iPhone noise diary that listens while you sleep.
Leave your phone by the bed. Kept Awake measures the sound level every second, keeps a short recording of each loud noise, and in the morning shows you what happened. Tag the noises, add any you noticed during the day, and send one PDF report to your landlord, council or HOA.

Common questions
Does it keep listening with the screen off?
Yes. Tap Start listening, plug the phone in and put it down. The orange microphone dot shows while it listens. A phone call, Siri or an alarm that takes the microphone pauses it, and that gap appears in your night and in the report.
Does it record the whole night?
No. It keeps the sound level for every second (numbers only, no sound) and short recordings around loud noises only.
The microphone is off. How do I turn it on?
Open the iPhone Settings app → Kept Awake → turn on Microphone.
Are the levels accurate?
They are estimates from your phone's microphone, not a certified measurement, and the report says so. If you can compare with a real sound level meter, you can add an adjustment in the app's Settings; the report states it.
Where are my recordings?
Only on your iPhone. They leave it only when you share a report. Deleting the app deletes them, so share or save any report you need first.
My council uses The Noise App.
If your council asked you to use it, keep sending through it. Kept Awake works alongside it as your own record.
Is it legal to record?
Recording noise in your own home is usually fine. Recording other people's private conversations may not be, depending on where you live. Kept Awake keeps short clips around loud noises only, but check your local rules.
