Kept Awake privacy policy

The short version: your recordings and sound levels stay on your iPhone. We have no accounts and never hear or see what the app records. The app sends us a few anonymous counts, like "a night was started", so we know it works. The app shows no ads.
Who we are
Kept Awake is an iPhone app made by 123TEQ LLC ("we"). Questions about this policy: use the contact form.
The microphone
The app uses the microphone only between you tapping Start listening and Stop. The orange microphone dot shows the whole time. While listening it keeps:
- the sound level for each second (numbers only, no sound);
- short recordings around noises louder than the threshold you set, never the whole night.
The app may use Apple's on-device sound classifier to suggest what a noise was. That also happens on your phone.
Your recordings, levels and diary
Recordings, levels, tags, notes and diary entries are stored only on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to us or anyone else. When you make a report and share it, the PDF and recordings go wherever you choose to send them. The report includes your phone model and the app version, so whoever reads it knows how the levels were measured.
What the app sends us
To learn whether the app works, it sends our server (config.shovelware.ai) short event records:
- that a night of listening was started;
- the app version and "ios";
- a random number made by the app when it is first installed, so we can count installs. It is not your Apple ID, your device ID or the advertising identifier, and it isn't linked to you. Deleting the app deletes it.
The app sends nothing else and fetches nothing from the server. These records never include any sound, sound level or diary content. We don't sell or share them, and we don't use them to track you across other apps or websites.
Advertising
The app shows no ads and contains no advertising code. It doesn't use the advertising identifier or any device identifier, and it doesn't collect your location. Nothing the app sends us is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Children
The app isn't aimed at children and sends us nothing that identifies anyone.
Your choices
You can delete any recording or night in the app. Because nothing we hold is linked to you, there is no account to delete. Deleting the app removes everything it kept on your phone.

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
